If you think that belly fat is just an issue for people who are overweight, think again -- even people who are at a healthy weight and exercise regularly can have it. There#39;s no such thing as a ;perfect; body, so what#39;s the big deal if your stomach isn#39;t flat? It isn#39;t just a problem of aesthetics. There are two types of fat: visceral and subcutaneous. Visceral fat is the kind that lies far below the surface, surrounding your organs. Subcutaneous fat is just below the skin and can be easily grabbed. You can spot visceral fat via an MRI or CT scan, but there#39;s a simple test for it at home: If you have a large waistline or you#39;re apple-shaped, you likely have visceral belly fat. While neither type of fat is good, visceral belly fat carries some serious health risks. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, you#39;re at risk if you have a waistline greater than 40 inches if you#39;re a man and 35 inches if you#39;re a woman (a lower threshold of 35 inches for men and 31 inches for women has been recommended by the World Health Organization for people of Asian ethnicity). We aren#39;t entirely sure why, but belly fat is linked to increased insulin resistance, which can result in type II diabetes. It can also lead to heart disease, stroke, some types of cancer, sleep apnea and premature bone density loss, and there#39;s even evidence that it may be a factor in developing dementia. So what causes belly fat? Heredity is one factor. Belly fat has often been called ;middle-aged sp; because as you age and your metabolism slows down, extra pounds tend to accumulate across the stomach. This is probably due to changes in levels of hormones such as cortisol, which is made in the adrenal glands and helps the body process glucose, regulate metabolism and manage stress. Speaking of stress, it can raise levels of cortisol, so it might lead to increased belly fat, too. While it can be tough to do, there are ways to get rid of belly fat -- and not just plastic surgery -- but there#39;s no magic pill. Read on for tips. Blast That Belly减腹消脂Plastic surgery such as liposuction can remove subcutaneous fat but not visceral fat. Researchers in Brazil have discovered that if you have lipo to remove the former, your body could compensate with an increase in the latter unless you have a diet and exercise regimen going. You can#39;t do anything about aging or heredity, but if you have developed belly fat, you can still work to combat it. A lot of people think that exercises targeting the stomach area, such as sit-ups or crunches, are the way to go. These types of exercises tone and tighten muscles, but they can#39;t do anything about fat. Instead, focus on losing fat overall via vigorous aerobic exercise -- preferably 30 minutes or more most days of the week. Start slow and build up. You don#39;t have to run to get good cardio; brisk walking, dancing and bicycling all count, too. Strength training, meaning lifting weights, may also help get rid of visceral belly fat. Building muscle raises your metabolism so you can burn more calories. You might also consider incorporating core-strengthening exercises like planks. What you eat also makes a difference. To reduce belly fat, avoid foods that contain trans fats, a type of fat found in many prepackaged cookies, crackers and baked goods, as well as some fried fast foods. Not only can trans fats pack on the pounds, but research conducted at Wake Forest University has also shown that they can add fat specifically to your belly and even redistribute fat there from other areas of the body. Sugar also increases belly fat. Eat whole grains as well as lots of fruits and vegetables. Foods high in fiber not only keep you full longer but they also lower insulin levels and may shrink fat cells. A diet rich in healthy monounsaturated fats like olive oil, avocados, almonds and peanuts may also cause fat to break down. Your best beverage is always going to be water. It flushes out fat and keeps down bloat, and drinking lots of it keeps you from thinking you#39;re hungry when you#39;re actually thirsty. The final key to losing belly fat is to de-stress. Easier said than done, right? One way to lower stress is to get enough sleep, ideally eight hours each night. Find ways to diffuse stressful situations -- through yoga, meditation or journaling. While there#39;s no one way to lose belly fat, that#39;s no reason to give up. It has nothing to do with how you look in a swimsuit and everything to do with staying healthy. Have you ever witnessed somebody who is so confident and fluent in conversations that it’s actually really impressive? How do they do it? We all know people who are beloved by everyone and seem able to make friends wherever they go. Some regard them with admiration tinged with a bit of envy, then shrug their shoulders and figure those people are just born with that special “something”. It might be surprising to learn that being popular is a skill that can be learned like any other. Just as you wouldn’t expect to wake up one morning knowing how to play the piano, the key to success in making friends is setting goals and developing a game plan. Use these seven tips as the framework on which you build your skill set. Be interested, not interesting关注他人,而非以自我为中心A widesp misconception is that popular people are the ones talking about their latest promotion or exciting vacation they took or wild party they attended. Hearing the occasional interesting story is fine, but most people become bored or resentful listening to these blow-by-blow accounts. It’s far more effective to take a genuine interest in the lives of others and get them talking about themselves. And remember that no word sounds as magical as one’s own name. Addressing people by name makes them feel special. 2. Be positive –but not too positive积极乐观,但也别做过头Think about people you’ve known who expect the worst from everyone and everything and aren’t shy about speaking up. Not much fun to be around, are they? This doesn’t mean you have to be constantly sping false rays of sunshine. That’s nearly as annoying as eternal pessimism. Have a clear-eyed and honest attitude and people will come to value your opinions as trustworthy. 3. Be charitable to others善待他人Gossiping about friends and co-workers may gain you an audience, but it’s superficial and temporary. Those who indulge their pettier instincts trashing others aren’t the ones you want in your circle. Eventually even those people will realize that you’re just as likely to be talking about them in the same way and they’ll steer clear. It also translates as weakness and insecurity, trying to build yourself up by tearing others down. Take the high road and you’ll be seen as fair-minded. 4. Be helpful and dependable帮助他人,值得信赖If someone you know needs assistance that you’re able to provide with a minimum of inconvenience, offer it. The key term here is “minimum of inconvenience”. Doing favors for others that involve more time and trouble than they would for the person themselves comes across as desperation. Giving aid when you’re truly in a position to do so communicates a sincere interest in the welfare of others. As a side note, be sure to follow up on any commitments you make. The damage to your reputation is doubly harsh if people can’t count on your word. 5. Be a “matchmaker”做“媒人”If you’re heading to the movies with a friend, invite another film-loving pal to come along. Love sports?Assemble a group to attend the big game. Spearhead gatherings at your home or a fun venue such as a wine bar, inviting at least a few people who are new to the group. Keeping your social network interconnected has a circular effect where you’re perceived as having many friends, thereby gaining you even more. Don’t forget your manners during impromptu meetings, either. When out with a friend, many people make the mistake of failing to introduce them to others they may encounter. By doing so you run the risk of coming off as socially inept at best and rude or uncaring at worst. 6. Be your (best) self做(最好的)自己Yes, it’s a cliche you’ve heard a million and one times, but ideas become cliches by standing the test of time. Insincerity is a huge turn-off and no matter how great of an actor you are, the pretense will catch up with you. The most attractive people, both physically and mentally, are the ones who are clearly comfortable in their own skin. Accepting and embracing your own unique qualities radiates a healthy confidence that’s magnetic to others. Periodically step outside yourself to evaluate how you come across to others. Don’t mistake this for being overly concerned with their opinions of you. Taking stock of the image you project shows a healthy respect for yourself as well as for them. Another factor to consider is your body language. You may not even realize that you’re wearing a perpetual frown or creating a stand-offish posture with crossed arms and lack of eye contact. It’s a simple concept, but it can make a big difference with how comfortable people feel around you. As you work on developing your social skills, keep in mind that these tips center around the saying, “To have a friend, be a friend.” If you let that advice guide your actions, you’ll develop that charisma that makes people want to be around you while also staying true to your own values and principles. The latest fashion trend “normcore” isn’t all that fashionable – it celebrates the average and normal. Any old sneakers or sandals; a denim shirt or a black turtleneck, like Steve Jobs’; a zip-up fleece; or a roomy (not baggy) pair of jeans. If you wear any of these, you are the fashion icon of the day, even though you may not be interested in fashion at all. On social networks like Twitter and Instagram, normcore is the Internet meme of the year. Normcore was featured in fashion magazines like GQ and Vogue and was the talk of February and March’s fashion weeks in New York, Paris, Milan and London. The word was first coined by a New York fashion trend-forecasting agency called K-Hole, which recently released the report “Youth Mode: A Report on Freedom”. “Normcore finds liberation in being nothing special, and realizes that adaptability leads to belonging,” announced K-Hole. The basic idea, according to a New York Times article, is that young people have devoted so much energy to trying to define themselves as individuals, that they have lost the joy of belonging that comes with being part of the group.“Normcore就是从平淡无奇中寻求自由,通过适应来获得归属感,”这正是K-Hole宣称的理念。 Normcore is about letting go of pretenses and learning to throw yourself into whatever subcultures or activities you stumble into, even if they are mainstream. “You might not understand the rules of football, but you can still get a thrill from the roar of the crowd at the World Cup,” the K-Hole report .“Normcore”就是要摒弃假面伪装,学会融入你无意间接触到的任何亚文化或活动,即使是随波逐流之嫌。 The agency described normcore as more of a sociological attitude. But shortly after the release of the report, New York magazine ran a piece that established normcore as a fashion trend, calling it “fashion for those who know they’re one in seven billion”.K-Hole公司将“normcore”描述成一种社会态度。 The concept of normcore is all about the joy of the ordinary, and it has struck a chord with many people. Alain de Botton, the British writer and philosopher, thinks it makes a lot of sense.“Normcore”宣扬的是来平凡的快乐,这种观念打动了很多人的心弦。 “Normcore is the search for the ideal,” he said in an interview with Newsweek. “The perfect T-shirt, like the perfect pencil or table, doesn’t need to be constantly updated because it has latched on to the essence of what it’s trying to do. Humans like one-off ideals: one god, one partner. That urge sometimes washes over into clothes: one type of T-shirt. The better the design, the less it needs to change.”“‘Normcore’是对完美的追求,”他在接受美国《新闻周刊》采访时说道。 Even those in the fashion industry are ily admitting they see the appeal of normcore. US Vogue’s contributing editor Plum Sykes was ed by Newsweek as saying: “Wearing ‘fashion’ all the time gets too much – and it demands too much attention.”《新闻周刊》援引《Vogue》美国版特约编辑普拉姆#8226;赛克斯的一句话:“一如既往的时尚穿着负担太重,需要太多的关注。”Richard Nicoll, a London-based designer and creative director at the casual clothes chain Jack Will, also sang its praises: “Normcore says, ‘I have soul and intelligence. I’m unique and I don’t need to shout about it.’”

When Russian River released Pliny the Younger in February, 300 thirsty fans lined up outside the tiny Santa Rosa, Calif., brewpub for the first sip of this super-hoppy beer. Hop flavors fade fast, and for IPAs and even stronger Imperial IPAs like Pliny, fresh is best: It#39;s on tap once a year and runs dry in days. But as the screechingly hop-forward brews of the craft-beer movement#39;s first wave give way to deeper, more complex flavors, the revolution is moving down to the cellar. For some beer lovers, the best bottles aren#39;t the freshest, they#39;re the dustiest. As with many of beer#39;s latest trends -- limited editions, a preoccupation with terroir, cork-sealed bottles -- this one takes cues from the wine world. At restaurants like San Francisco#39;s Abbot#39;s Cellar, the cicerones, beer#39;s equivalent of sommeliers, pour celebrated vintage brews like Baladin#39;s Port-like 2009 Xyauyu Etichetta Oro. But amassing an all-star beer cellar doesn#39;t have to be a white-tablecloth endeavor price-wise. Great age-able beers can be quite affordable. A six-pack of Sierra Nevada#39;s Bigfoot -- a spicy barley wine that turns as syrupy as sweet Sherry after a few years -- goes for about . Still, you can#39;t buy just anything and lay it down to age. Not all beers get better with time. Hop-driven IPAs lose their kick quickly as light, heat and oxygen degrade the flavorful flowers#39; acids and oils. Stone Brewing Co.#39;s Enjoy By IPA touts its bottled-on date as a badge, and the brewery#39;s cicerone, Bill Sysak, recommends immediate consumption. Instead, Mr. Sysak stocks his personal cellar -- 2,800 bottles and counting -- with strong, dark and bottle-conditioned beers. The sometimes overpowering fusel alcohol notes of stronger beers, 8% ABV (alcohol by volume) and up, mellow over time; living yeast in bottle-conditioned beers adds character as it continues to ferment residual sugars. Aging beers truly is an adventure. Sweet, bottle-conditioned Belgians dry out; fiery barley wines turn smooth and caramelly. Stone#39;s Imperial Russian Stout, Mr. Sysak said, #39;might be astringent, fresh, like espresso. But aged, it#39;s a delicious chocolate-coffee dessert.#39; One of the oldest he#39;s tried, a 1968 Thomas Hardy#39;s Ale, #39;was like an Oloroso Sherry: nuts, toffee, leather and smoke.#39; The beers may be strong, but they must be aged gently. Aim for 54 degrees Fahrenheit -- a mini-fridge with a temperature control is nice, but a dark interior closet works too. Mr. Sysak found a sweet spot in his guest bathroom. #39;People would open the cupboard and find all these rare bottles,#39; he said. Above all, you want consistency. Temperature fluctuations will age beer prematurely and might throw its proteins out of solution, turning the brew hazy. There#39;s no need to bother with horizontal storage, even with cork-sealed beers. Most modern corks are treated with wax so they won#39;t dry out, and vertical storage minimizes contact between the beer and air in the bottle, slowing the aging process. The biggest question is when to drink. Allagash recommends about three years for a Belgian brew like its Interlude, by and tannic. Alaskan Brewing Co.#39;s Smoked Porter -- thought up by brewery founder Geoff Larson over a plate of lox with a salmon-curing neighbor -- #39;hasn#39;t peaked yet,#39; said Mr. Larson. Since most of these beers are relatively affordable, buy a bunch and open one from time to time. After a few years, try a vertical tasting: one beer, different ages. Start with the oldest bottle and proceed chronologically, so the younger batch#39;s more intense flavors don#39;t overwhelm your palate at the outset. And, as with wine, sip and savor. Tasting, like aging, takes patience. #39;Drinking these beers is like getting into a hot tub,#39; Mr. Larson said. STARTER KIT // BEERS TO HOLD ON TO 新手套装//哪些啤酒宜久藏?1.
